Music
Music to me is something special. I would never in my life think twice about being in a situation where there is no music. One can go anywhere in the world and will find music in all sounds and styles. Even a simple trip to the laundromat, there you will most likely hear a radio station playing the “pops” of today. But what is it that makes us as a human being create music? I mean, compared to animals, we are the only species on the planet that creates music for peer enjoyment and a way to express ourselves. Certain species animals use a pattern of sounds and tones in a rhythmic pattern, that’s the basics of music isn’t it(?), in hopes of being able to find a mate and be able to keep their species from going extinct. In a sense, like animals, we use music to communicate to others to tell them the way we feel. If you hear a sad song playing, it’s most likely because the artist who created that song had something happen to them that made her have the need to express the way they feel through song. But where does that desire to create music come from?
What fascinates me most about music is why do we create it? What gives us the urge to create these sounds and tones in different variations of rhythms and turn them into something for others to listen to and appreciate? My best guess is that music is something spiritual. Music has been a part of the human race as long as we have been on the planet. From banging on a logs and rocks to playing masterpieces on the piano, music has evolved, and is continuing to evolve, as society evolves and will always have a part in our souls. I can’t explain it more than I have without studying the soul, because that’s what music is, it’s our souls speaking to us in the form we have come to call music, and is an amazing gift to have and enjoy.
